What are you having for breakfast before the school day starts? Coffee, coffee, and more coffee. Yogurt and granola — it's quick, healthy, and nourishing. A bowl of cereal. A granola bar at my desk — I never wake up early enough to have time for breakfast.

What are you listening to on your commute to school? An informative and well-researched podcast. The latest rap and hip-hop hits. Upbeat pop music that gets me pumped to start my day. Silence. I need to start my day with peace.

You have a student who seems to be struggling with a particular topic. How do you deal with the situation? Have a meeting with the student's parents to address the issue right away. I try to give the student individualized attention whenever possible. It's really not my problem unless they approach me for help directly. Meet with the student first to see if there's a reason they may be struggling and go from there.

It's lunchtime! Who are you sitting with in the teacher's lounge? My work best friend. Hopefully my mentor... if she lets me. I'm eating lunch by myself at my desk. I switch it up — I like talking to everyone!

Your class won't quiet down during your lesson. How do you get their attention back? Just let them act up. If they don't want to learn, I’ll just watch TikToks at my desk. Take them outside for 15 minutes. They have energy they need to expel, and maybe they’ll focus better once they’ve gotten it out. Obviously my lesson isn’t engaging enough. I’ll quickly think up an interactive game to make it more interesting. That's not a problem I have. My class always shows me the utmost respect.

For what reason are you always leaving your classroom? I just make stuff up because I don't want to be in there. I'm being incessantly hounded by my coworkers for help and advice. I want to try to run into my work crush. Honestly, I just have to go to the bathroom a lot.

What would you be doing if you weren't a teacher? I'd be an entrepreneur. Working at a nonprofit that supports a cause I believe in. Journalism and traveling. Helping out in my community.

What's your favorite creative way to teach a lesson? Making it into an arts and crafts project! I love seeing my students express themselves. Quizzing students on the material by dividing them up into teams and making it into a fun competition. Having students do group presentations so they are all teaching each other different parts of the lesson. I prefer to stick with classic teaching methods — they're classic for a reason.

Your students just came in from recess and are incessantly doing TikTok dances. What do you do? Join 'em and start filming! If they're having fun, I'm gonna have fun. Do the dance with them so it's no longer cool and embarrasses them instead. What kind of question is this? I would just tell them to stop and they would. Tell them that they can dance when we're finished with our lesson.

It's been a long week of teaching. What are you doing this weekend? Getting ahead on lesson planning and catching up on sleep. Hanging out with my significant other. Hitting the clubs! Spending time with family and going to my place of worship.
