Comedy Spotlight: Get to Know Raanan Hershberg

If you have not yet heard of the New-York based stand-up comic Raanan Hershberg, he is a rising star who has made appearances on The Late, Late Show with James Corden, Laughs on FOX and Comedy Central. He has also been a finalist at a number of festivals such as Stand Up NBC, The Laughing Skull Festival and Boston Comedy Festival.

Raanan was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, a topic he often incorporates into his sets. Following his college days at SUNY Purchase, Raanan moved back to Louisville to begin his comedy career. He began by attending open mic nights and stayed for eight years performing locally.

After making a name for himself in the midwest, Raanan decided it was time to go bigger and made the trip out to New York. Raanan now performs regularly at various clubs in New York City such as the New York Comedy Club — he has been performing on the rooftop during the pandemic.

Raanan’s laugh-out-loud comedy sets often include relatable stories about his Jewish mother, wonderful observations about life in the Big Apple and ridiculous stories about his dating life — just like the best comics out there, Raanan is never afraid to poke fun at himself.

Aside from being incredibly hilarious and creative, Raanan has one of the most natural stage presences you will ever see. With his charisma and unwavering ability to make every audience smile, it is clear that he was born to be a comic.
