Get Ready For This Summer’s 14th Annual New Media Film Festival

If you are looking for original content by new creators, make sure to tune into the 14th New Media Film Festival. Even if you can’t attend the festival in person in Los Angeles, you can participate online.

The New Media Film Festival is an annual event that started in 2009 and allows “all ages, all cultures, all media,” according to their website, to participate. Using the word “all” is not an exaggeration; they have submissions from diverse creatives with projects ranging from student films to games and more in over 25 categories. NMFF having over 25 categories of media content and not just films, along with having online events, makes this festival a game changer.

Over a thousand projects submitted to NMFF have received distribution offers from media companies such as Netflix, Amazon, AMC and many more. The festival also offers other events such as Q & A’s, a VIP soiree and awards that will allow creatives to interact and network with each other. The awards mentioned have $45,000 up for grabs for submissions, with judges from popular media companies ranging from Marvel to Simon and Schuster publishing.

NMFF has also honored celebrities with some of the awards they offer. Actor Jeff Bridges (“The Big Lebowski”) won an award and a quote from him on their website states, “Thanks to the New Media Film Festival for honoring me with the Socially Responsible Conservationist Award…And thanks for supporting our film, [‘Living in Future’s Past’].” Other celebrities honored include singer Paul McCartney, author Ray Bradbury (“Fahrenheit 451”) and actor Leonardo Dicaprio (“Titanic”).

For those looking to get their work into the festival events, you first have to go through a submission process. The submission process includes industry leaders reviewing and approving your work prior to putting it into NMFF events. Let your creativity and artistic passions fly if you plan to submit your work to the festival. Whether you want to submit your work or just view this year’s projects, you still have time to register. The festival will take place from June 7-8, with the first day being online and the next being in person.

You can purchase tickets for the festival and enter the submission process now. Don’t let this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity pass you by!
