The long wait for the second season of “Alice in Borderland” is over! “Alice in Borderland” is a show about people who are teleported to a world similar to their own where they are forced to play games to survive. The games are provided by the game system and each has its own card of hearts, spades, clubs and diamonds. The first season left us with more questions about the cards and why the characters have been transported to this world. Now the wait is finished; the answers are finally revealed in the second season.

This second season follows the same team as they work together to defeat the game and the moderators behind it. Arisu (Kento Yamazaki), Usagi (Tao Tsuchiya), Chishiya (Nijiro Murakami), Kuina (Aya Asahina), Tatta (Yutaro Watanabe) and Ann (Ayaka Miyoshi) have beaten all of the number cards. They now have to challenge the face cards since they must continue playing the game until they collect all of the cards. They go to the train station to find no one outside and more games out. Those games have locations now with blimps in the sky holding each face card, representing the twelve final challenges. These cards consist of each suit. Clubs are about teamwork, spades are about physical strength, hearts are sacrifice and diamonds are strategies. There are kings, queens and jacks, and each face has its difficulty. The king cards are the hardest to beat as they are considered overpowered.
An unlucky start to the game is to be in an area where spades are. Arisu, Usagi, Chishiya and Kuina are unlucky and end up in the king of spades area, which becomes a gore fest of many people desperately running away from the attacker. They are forced to run and hide while Chishiya is separated from the group. Ann and Tatta rescue them in a vehicle that is pursued by the king. The king is desperate to kill them in any way possible. They escape the king of spades to travel to another game, an easier game to win. With Chishiya missing, they decide to go to the king of clubs. The king’s team they will soon face is strong as a unit. They may or may not have a chance. Also, to face the king of clubs, they need five people. At this point, they only have four: Arisu, Usagi, Tatta and Kuina. The fifth person who joins their team is shocking to see but to find out who that person is you’ll have to watch this series.

When season two was released, I rushed to watch it immediately because I had been waiting for it since season one’s release in 2020. I had many questions that needed answers, especially about the mystery behind their world. I had theories regarding the world and whether it is an isekai. An isekai is a genre in which a person or people transfer from the human world to a different world with different ideals, morals, religion, customs and powers. I was mind blown by the answers I had gotten by the end of the season. I would have never guessed the real cause of the games. Also, I love the games because of the creativity, time and effort put into them. My favorites are the queen of spades and jack of hearts. I immensely enjoyed the queen of spades since it reminded me of laser tag because of the lights, the stage and the maneuvering. I would immensely recommend watching this series. Be prepared to have your mind blown by the mystery!
