Summer is fast approaching. Despite all the joy this time of year may bring you, you might be looking for a temporary escape from all the bright sunshine and the exploding heat. Or maybe you long to hit up an outdoor tether with your friends. Regardless of the occasion, we want to let you know of all the amazing options this summer holds. Here is a quick look into five films that are premiering in theaters this summer!
1. “Elemental”

Disney and Pixar have joined forces to create a vibrant film to fulfill all your summertime needs. In this world of Elemental City, the elements air, Earth, water, and fire all live in harmony. The only rule is that the elements must stay divided. Protagonist Ember Lumen (Leah Lewis) is set up for an amazing opportunity to journey outside her realm with a newfound friend, Wade (Mamoudou Athie), an element of water. In this mission, Ember will find out who she really is and what she wants from life. One of the most exciting features of this film is the color that radiates throughout. This film will be sure to light up your world!

2. “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny”

Are you a fan of Harrison Ford? Did you have the Indiana Jones movies set on repeat? Well, the series continues with “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.” Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) is set to return to his fantastic adventures. There is no stopping him from reacquainting with his love for action. This movie will have high expectations from its director and cast! Director James Mangold has been successful in his director roles in popular films including “Logan” and “The Wolverine.” Not to mention Harrison Ford’s more than accomplished career, regardless of his age. Be sure to check out this nostalgic, action-packed film, “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.”

3. “Barbie”

Starring in the upcoming film, “Barbie,” are the beautiful Margot Robbie as Barbie and handsome Ryan Gosling as Ken. This live-action movie will follow their comedic journey from Barbieland to the Real World. Director, Greta Gerwig, has taken on the role of producing this production about a set of classic toy dolls. You may know Greta Gerwig from both her acting and directing roles. In the director role, she produced a few award-winning films including “Little Women” and “Lady Bird.” With such a loaded cast and talented director, this film is expected to be nonetheless an exciting and nostalgic adventure for Barbie fans.

4. “Blue Beetle”

“Blue Beetle” is an action-packed movie that is sure to get you excited for this comic book-based adventure. Jaime Reyes (Xolo Maridueña), an average, working-class Mexican-American when suddenly his whole life changes from a fast food burger container. The tiny package holds a high-tech piece made to fully protect its host and looks none other than a blue beetle. You’ll have to find out how Jamie decides to navigate his newfound identity and lifestyle. Be sure to look out for other well-known actors including George Lopez and Susan Sarandon.

5. “The Nun 2”

Did you love the first thriller “The Nun” or want to tune in to Sister Irene’s next frightening adventure? The five-year-long wait is finally coming to a close as the original cast collaborates once more. Once again, Taissa Farmiga portrays Sister Irene as she once again comes to another duel against the forces of evil. Bonnie Aarons will play the Demon Nun as Jonas Bloquet embodies the character Frenchie. But unlike the previous film, Michael Chaves takes on the directorial role. In previous efforts, he has directed a variety of films including Billie Eilish’s music video “Bury a Friend” and the movie “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.” It will be exciting to see how Chaves takes on “The Nun 2” and how much actors Farmiga, Aarons and Bloquet have improved and developed within their respective roles.
