1. “Peter Pan & Wendy”

Disney has been taking on a large role in producing remakes of their most popular movies. Now, Disney is putting their effort into remaking the nostalgic film “Peter Pan” as a live-action movie, “Peter Pan & Wendy.” This new film will take on the same plot as its successor, following the colliding journeys of Peter Pan (Alexander Molony), Wendy (Ever Gabo Anderson), and Captain Hook (Jude Law). Peter Pan, the boy from Neverland, brings Wendy, a girl who doesn’t want to grow up, on a lifetime adventure. While this film does follow the nostalgic adventure, it does not cease in creating a modern identity as well. The trailer promises that the special effects and animation will be spectacular. Disney has also done an amazing job in providing diversity throughout their films like casting Yara Shahidi as the beautiful Tinker Bell. Fly with them on this action-packed adventure.

2. “White Men Can’t Jump”

Based on the 1992 film starring Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes comes a 2023 remake with Sinqua Walls and Jack Harlow. Two basketball players, Kamal (Sinqua Walls) and Jeremy (Jack Harlow), join forces when a competition to win half of a million dollars comes around. Although they start as rivals, the players humorously discover that they actually share quite a lot in common. This unlikely duo of family man Kamal and hustler Jeremy demonstrate the powers of teamwork and importance of inclusivity in society. It will be exciting to see the chemistry between these young actors. So whether you are a fan of basketball, comedy, or even Jack Harlow, watch out for this lighthearted movie! 3. “The Little Mermaid”

As you probably guessed from the title, this upcoming film will be based on the classic “The Little Mermaid” released in 1989. Ariel’s interest and love for the human world will push her onto a journey of self discovery and love. But what cost must she pay to become a part of their world? The set cast includes actors Halle Bailey as Ariel, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, and the famous star, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula. Fans have their expectations set high as Disney challenges themselves to recreate not only the movie but soundtrack as well! Although Halle Bailey has an enormous amount of pressure to fulfill the voice of Ariel, her 5 Grammy nominations and the trailer sneak peak ensures awaiting viewers that they will not be disappointed. 4. “The Killer”

Netflix captures the challenge of transforming the French comic book, “The Killer,” into an action-packed film starring Michael Fassbender as the Killer. This exciting movie will go through the life of a notorious killer. But there is a problem. The Killer seems to be losing his sanity, or maybe developing a conscience, despite his drive to continue his job and thirst for blood. What will become of him? As mentioned before, this exciting plot and twist and turn of events is based upon author Matz comic, published in 1998. It has won a number of awards including IGN’s “Best Indy Book” of 2007. The unnamed, elite assassin’s story and background is as mysterious as the upcoming film. With the movie’s release date in later 2023, we are still awaiting any trailers, clips, or sneak peaks Netflix has to offer prior. Therefore, be sure to keep your eyes and ears peeled for more details!
“The Killer ” is set to be released on Netflix on November 10, 2023.
5. “Wonka”

The beloved 1964 novel by Ronald Dahl, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” has been remade into films numerous times including “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” starring Gene Wilder as well as “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” with Johnny Depp. Again, the timeless story is set to be released once more late this year. One of the defining aspects of this upcoming movie is how it will focus on the foundation of Willy Wonka and his factory. The movie also has a loaded cast with actors Timothée Chalamet as Willy Wonka, Rowan Atkinson as the Priest, and Hugh Grant as an Oompa Loompa. This film is gaining more and more publicity despite such a late release date. It is exciting, to say the least, to see the perspective of Wonka and his establishment!
