If you are a big horror fan like us, this haunting season is a spooky treat as we get to watch all kinds of movies and TV shows about ghosts, witches and all things supernatural. However, this can often be overwhelming as we try to cram all Halloween movies and TV shows into just one month. Luckily, we’ve curated a list to help guide you on what to watch this Halloween. If you are feeling brave, here are five of the best horror shows to binge-watch this month.
1. “Chucky”

It wouldn’t be Halloween if we didn’t mention one of the creepiest dolls in the horror genre on this list, and if you haven’t already guessed who we are talking about, that character is none other than Chucky (Brad Dourif). This frightening series continues the story of the seventh film in the “Child’s Play” franchise when the killer doll appears in a quiet town in New Jersey. However, his arrival causes quite a stir as he begins to horrifically murder people and expose their dark secrets. At the same time, Chucky’s past seems to catch up with him and reveal his ghastly origins. With fearsome slasher elements and Chucky’s dark humor, this series brings much nostalgia to the franchise and is a must-watch for “Chucky” fans.
“Chucky” is available to stream on Peacock.
2. “The Haunting of Bly Manor”

If you love a good ghost story, then you must check out “The Haunting of Bly Manor.” Based on the Henry James novel “The Turn of the Screw,” the series follows a young governess Dani (Victoria Pedretti) who moves to Bly Manor to look after two orphan children. Everything seems to be going well until the governess starts seeing the ghost of the previous governess and her lover roaming around the property. With Mike Flanagan as the director, viewers know they are in for a spine-chilling treat, which will result in you binge-watching the series in just a few days.
“The Haunting of Bly Manor” is available to stream on Netflix.
3. “Yellowjackets”

On the surface, “Yellowjackets” might not seem like a horror series as it doesn’t follow the typical horror genre elements. But don’t let that stop you from watching because this series is full of many creepy and haunting moments that will leave you with chills. This show tells the story of a New Jersey high school varsity girls’ soccer team that traveled to Seattle for a national tournament in 1996. While flying over Canada, their plane abruptly crashes deep in the wilderness, stranding the surviving team members. Following a similar plot to the classic novel “Lord of the Flies,” the series shows their descent from a complicated but thriving team to a warring, cannibalistic clan. This horrifying experience causes the remaining survivors to try to piece together what truly happened in the wilderness 25 years later. The series’ premise is terrifying alone, but the blend of supernatural and horror elements makes this show even scarier. As a result, this TV series is one you don’t want to miss.
Seasons one and two of “Yellowjackets” are available to watch on Paramount+.
4. “The Exorcist”

With the recent release of the sixth movie installment of “The Exorcist” franchise, we just had to include its TV series on this watch list. “The Exorcist” serves as a direct sequel to the original 1973 film that centers around Angela Rance (Geena Davis, who believes something is very wrong in her home as she and her family experience abnormalities. Desperate for help, Angela turns to Father Tomas Ortega (Alfonso Herrera) — the progressive leader of their suburban Chicago parish — setting him on a collision course with old school Vatican soldier Father Marcus (Ben Daniels) as all their fates become entangled in a battle against an ancient force of evil. Besides the stellar ensemble, this series is full of many jump scares and eerie moments that are perfect for this Halloween.
All seasons of “The Exorcist” are available to watch on Hulu.
5. “American Horror Story”

Some horror fans might be questioning why “American Horror Story” is on this list, considering that some of the later seasons have become substandard compared to previous seasons. However, this horror-telling series has had such a lasting impact on horror TV that it just can’t be ignored. An anthology, the series offers a variety of horror stories each season. From a creepy asylum to a coven of witches, this series has every horror concept wrapped into one and is perfect for viewers wanting to watch a bit of everything this season.
