72nd Emmys Recap: The Complete List of Nominees and Winners

The 72nd Emmy Awards is certainly one we will remember forever. The beloved Jimmy Kimmel kicked off the show with a fabulous monologue acknowledging the insignificance of the night with all of the issues the country and the world are currently facing. With that being said, he also pointed out how we are so incredibly lucky to have such great entertainment to keep us going in these tough times. The late night host next stated that television has become a vital member of each and every one of our households during the pandemic — and he is certainly not wrong.

At the beginning of Kimmel’s monologue, the camera panned to show the seats filled to the brim with stars dressed up for the event, giving the illusion of a packed house. Then the lights came on and we were tuned into the fact that those instances were really just clips from Emmys past and tonight the theater seats are instead filled with cardboard cutouts of the actors and actresses. Now let’s take a look at who took home the awards this year — or better yet had their Emmy delivered directly to their door as they tuned in virtually.
