The Top 10 Best TV Dramas of 2022

Looking back, 2022 was an excellent year for television releases, especially for drama shows of all varieties. From dragons to monsters and mysterious murders, there was so much intense drama that we couldn’t stop watching. So, without further ado, here are the top 10 best drama shows of 2022. These shows were all well-received by both audiences and critics. We cannot wait to see what holds in store for 2023. 

1. “House of the Dragon”

HBO hit it out of the park this year with the “Game of Thrones” Prequel “House of the Dragon,” which premiered on August 21. “House of the Dragon” received a rating of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes and was well received by fans. The show has already been renewed for season two, although the official date has not yet been released. 

“House of the Dragon” is available to stream on HBO Max.

2. “Euphoria” Season 2

“Euphoria” is another HBO hit. Originally debuting in 2019, season two dropped in January. The series follows a group of high schoolers dealing with harsh themes such as drug addiction, sex and death. It has an 88% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans are anxiously awaiting a Season 3 announcement. 

“Euphoria” is available to stream on HBO Max.

3. “Wednesday”

“Wednesday” premiered on Netflix in November. It follows the story of the beloved character, played by Jenna Ortega, from “The Addams Family ” as she begins a new journey at a new school. “Wednesday has been renewed by Netflix for a second season.

4. “The White Lotus” Season 2

“The White Lotus” is another HBO Max hit with an all-star cast. Such as Jennifer Coolidge and Aubrey Plaza. This satirical drama has been nominated for several awards and won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress. As of now, the show has been renewed for a third season, but no release date has been announced.

“The White Lotus” is available to watch on HBO Max and Hulu.

5. “Yellowstone” Season 5

After premiering its first season 2018, “Yellowstone” released its fifth season in 2022. The Neo-western series follows a rich and powerful ranch family who is full of drama. If you like good drama and cowboys, “Yellowstone” is perfect for you.

“Yellowstone” is available to stream on Peacock and Hulu, with new episodes of Season 5 airing on the Paramount Network.

6. “Young Royals” Season 2

“Young Royals” is a Swedish show on Netflix that picked up much popularity in the United States. It follows the story of a young prince navigating his way in his boarding school, while finding love on the way. Netflix has announced that the upcoming third season will be the final season.

“Young Royals” is available to watch on Netflix.

7. “Heartstopper”

“Heartstopper” is a teen drama created by Netflix. The first season was released in April and has a 100% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. The show is a coming of age story of a group of high school students. “Hearstopper” has been renewed for two more seasons, according to Netflix.

8. “The Winchesters”

Fans of “Supernatural” were excited to see the prequel “The Winchesters” get released this year. The first season has been a success on The CW, receiving a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. 

“The Winchesters” can be streamed on The CW. The series will return on Jan. 24, at 9/8 Central.

9. “Rings of Power”

2022 has certainly been the year for successful prequels. Continuing the trend, “Rings of Power,” a prequel for “Lord of the Rings,” was released in September by Amazon Prime. This prequel takes place thousands of years before “Lord of the Rings.” The show has been renewed by Amazon for a second season; however, a release date is yet to be announced.

“Rings of Power” is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.

10. “Big Sky” Season 3

Big Sky” is an ABC crime drama whose third season arrived this September. The show features popular celebrities such as Reba Mcentire and Jensen Ackles. It is based on a book series by C.J. Box. “Big Sky” still has yet to be renewed for season 4 by ABC.

“Big Sky” is available to stream on Hulu. The show returns on Jan. 4 at 10/9 Central on ABC.
